Adult ADHD Therapeutic Coaching
What is ADHD Therapeutic Coaching?
.jpg)
ADHD coaching is a supportive service for adults with ADHD. ADHD coaching is a relatively new field that has become more prominent in recent years. Coaching is an intervention that complements medication and other non-pharmacologic alternatives. As a specialty within the broader field of coaching, ADHD coaching is a practical intervention that specifically targets the core impairments of ADHD such as planning, time management, goal setting, organization and problem solving.
ADHD coaches work collaboratively with their clients who have ADHD or ADHD-like symptoms to address specific needs and personal goals. Most current ADHD coaching programs acknowledge the biological underpinnings of the disorder in addressing the core symptoms of ADHD (inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity); however, coaching addresses the academic, vocational, emotional and interpersonal life difficulties that are a result of these symptoms and helps clients find ways to overcome these challenges. Through individualized or group assistance and support, an ADHD coach helps people concentrate on where they are now, where they want to be and how, they can get there.
A coach helps people with ADHD carry out the practical activities of daily life in an organized, goal-oriented and timely fashion. In close partnership, an ADHD coach helps the client learn practical skills and initiate change in his or her daily life. A coach may help an adult with ADHD: (1) maintain focus to achieve identified goals, (2) translate abstract goals into concrete actions, and (3) build motivation and learn to find ways to use concrete and abstract rewards effectively.
Unlike traditional ADHD coaching (usually provided by a non-licensed therapist) I will bring in psychological expertise as needed during our work together, as you will notice this service is titled "ADHD Therapeutic Coaching."
Brief Program Outline
1. Free 30 minute phone consultation to see if we would have a good working relationship.
2. The first session is typically a 90-120 minute interview where I gather historical information about your life with ADHD, I also gather all relevant biological, psychological, and social information to better understand you as a whole person, and the last part of the interview will focus on your life goals - both short term and long term goals. These goals will be the focus of our work together and guide our future sessions.
3. The second and third 50-60 minute sessions will include me providing you with information about ADHD so you have a full understanding of this diagnosis. I will present you with a curriculum I have created with information from the latest research about ADHD and I will provide you a copy of this curriculum along with other resources and handouts. At the end of the third meeting we will discuss your broader goals
4. The fourth session marks the beginning of the therapeutic coaching and we meet weekly for 50-60 minute sessions to go through the curriculum and discuss progress toward your goals. We will trouble shoot road blocks, create plans each week with steps to meet the identified short term goals, and work on other areas of emotional support or psychological support.
5. At the end of our contracted time together we will re-evaluate where you are at and if we need to continue weekly, every other week, or with booster sessions. A typical therapeutic coaching program is between 12 to 20 weeks - depending on the needs and progress of the client.

Payment
-
$150 per session
-
Payment must be submitted monthly (this payment will cover the weeks of service in that month) - the bill will be sent to you at the beginning, middle, or end of each month.
-
Upon request, I will provide you with a monthly "Superbill" which you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. See below for more information on: "what is a superbill."
Cancellation Policy

I allow a one-time grace waver for a no-show or late cancellation (late cancellation is same day cancellation).
-
After the first one-time grace waver, if you have an accident, unforeseeable crisis, death., that causes you to miss session, please communicate this with me. While it's rare these crisis events happen, they can, and this would be another accepted grace waver.

After the first and second grace waver, there are no refunds if you cancel session the day of your appointment. I will offer a virtual session if that's helpful so you still receive your service.
-
Please note that you will be charged for a session that you cancel the same day after the two grace wavers.
-
If I have to cancel our session, I will always give you 24 - 48 hours notice. If there is a rare emergency or crisis, illness, death, or injury, I will let you know as soon as I can that session is cancelled. If I have to cancel session for any reason, the session will be rescheduled or refunded. Whatever works best in both of our schedules.

What is a Superbill
A monthly superbill for insurance is a document summarizing services provided by a healthcare provider over a month, used for patients to submit claims to their insurance for reimbursement, especially when dealing with out-of-network providers. It acts as an itemized bill, detailing diagnosis and procedure codes, and is often used when the provider isn't part of the patient's insurance network.
-
Purpose: Superbills help patients claim reimbursement from their insurance for services received from out-of-network providers.
-
Contents: They include patient information (name, DOB, address, phone), provider information, service details (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, dates of service), and costs.
-
Monthly Nature: Superbills can be generated on a monthly basis, summarizing all services provided to the patient within that period.
-
Claim Submission: Patients can use the superbill to complete their insurance claim forms and submit them to their insurer for potential reimbursement.
-
Out-of-Network Focus: Superbills are particularly useful for patients seeking care from providers not in their insurance network, as they provide the necessary documentation for claim submission.
-
In essence, a monthly superbill is a detailed, standardized form that facilitates insurance reimbursement for medical or therapy services, especially when dealing with providers outside of the patient's insurance network.
